GATEWAY TO CAREERS
Overview
This 10 week course is free for successful Maaori applicants who are motivated to start a career.
Whether that’s in construction, administration, retail, customer service, or other industries.
What you need to KNOW

is for people aged 18 to 24 years and your whaanau support is essential

Runs for 10 weeks, Monday to Friday from 6.30 am until 2pm each day.

✓ Start and finish each day at the course venue.

✓ Visit building sites, manufacturing plants, retail outlets, and admin workplaces to see the range of careers in action.
✓ Talk with workers across construction, retail, admin, and other industries about what their jobs involve and what to expect as an employee.
✓ Get your CV ready for jobs and interviews in construction, retail, or admin.
✓ Hear from employers about what they look for when recruiting and what they expect from new employees across construction, retail, admin, and other industries.
✓ Develop your ability to communicate in a group, preparing you for teamwork in construction, retail, admin, and other careers.
✓ Take part in pre placement briefings to build your knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety and workplace expectations across construction, admin, retail, customer service, and other industries.
✓ We aim to give you opportunities to be interviewed by employers across multiple industries, depending on your career interests.
